A student
at Providence College, Drew Foster strives for
academic excellence. Drew Foster has made the Dean’s List numerous times, and
he maintains a high GPA. In order to ensure his academic success, Drew Foster
must practice good time management. Drew Foster provides the following tips for
how to develop good time management skills.
Create a Schedule
First,
Drew Foster advises that you create a schedule. Creating a schedule will ensure
that you always know what obligations you have, allowing you to better plan
ahead. Drew Foster
suggests writing your schedule down somewhere visible in your living spaces,
such as on a calendar. Drew Foster also suggests carrying a copy of your
schedule in a planner.
Know Your Priorities
When
creating a schedule, Drew Foster states that you
need to know your priorities. For example, if you have an exam on Monday and a
paper due on Friday, you would of course study for the exam before writing the
paper. Knowing your priorities helps you determine when you should complete
certain tasks in order to stay on schedule.
Allow for the Unexpected
Last but
not least, Drew Foster states
that you need to allow for the unexpected. Whenever you create a schedule,
ensure that you do not leave anything until the last minute. This is important
because unexpected things happen all the time. Your computer could crash, the
book you need could be checked out of the library, etc. When managing your
time, always plan for the unexpected by leaving yourself more time than you
need to complete projects.
