A current member of the Class of 2014 at Providence College, Drew Foster feels very strongly about academic integrity. Know Your Honor Code

The first step to academic integrity is knowing the honor code. While it may seem boring, Drew Foster suggests that you locate your school’s honor code and read it to ensure that you are familiar with it. This is because many students who are accused of academic dishonesty actually did not realize that they were violating the honor code. Reading the honor code can help you ensure that you do not break it.

Act With Integrity

Once you know how to act with academic integrity, the next step is to do it. However, this can of course be more difficult than it may seem. Drew Foster argues that it is important for each and every student to take personal responsibility for his or her own actions, especially when it comes to academic integrity.

Encourage Integrity in Others

Last but not least, it is important for students to show their commitment to academic integrity by encouraging academic integrity in others. Drew Foster knows that by encouraging your peers to act with academic integrity, you can improve the overall academic environment of your school.
